2011 toyota camry review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Most popular midsize sedan. introductionthe toyota camry is not only the most popular midsize car in america, it's been the best-selling passenger car in this country for the last eight years and 12 of the last 13. It does everything very well and is known for its quality, reliability and resale value. It's comfortable, easy to operate and an easy car to live with in a hectic world. It's pleasant to drive in all circumstances.  the camry seats five in comfort yet it's relatively compact and easy to park. It's smooth and quiet, but it can accelerate with vigor. Its cabin is attractive, functional and refined, while its styling is aerodynamic and shows vitality.  a wide range of models runs from the well-equipped base camry to the near-luxury camry xle. In between are the popular camry le, a modest step up from the base and available with the v6, and the se, decked out with suspension, tires and trim to please the sporty crowd. Equipped with variable valve timing with intelligence (vvt-i), it's rated at 169 horsepower for the camry, le and xle trim levels and 179 horsepower for the sporty se. Camry v6 models get a 268-horspower 3. 5-liter engine and a six-speed automatic with manual shift feature, and it delivers plenty of response and performance, along with silky smoothness.  standard vehicle stability control (vsc) with traction control regulates engine output and brake application to help maintain control on slippery surfaces. The hybrid is equipped with the vehicle dynamics integrated management (vdim) system that helps manage traction and stability through throttle control and brake application, and can even deliver minor steering correction if circumstances require.  for 2011, lower-rolling-resistance tires for the v6 models increase epa fuel economy ratings from the previous 19 mpg city/28 mpg highway to 20 mpg city/29 mpg highway for the 2011 camry.  since its debut in the united states well over two decades ago, the camry has earned a reputation for smart design, pleasing function, great build quality and long-term durability. The toyota camry remains the benchmark by which its competitors are judged. lineupthe 2011 toyota camry comes in base, le, sporty se, luxury-equipped xle, and the camry hybrid. The base camry 19,595) comes with cloth upholstery, air conditioning and pollen filter, cruise control, power windows and mirrors, manual tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, a multi-function information display with outside temperature, a 160-watt stereo with six speakers, single cd player and auxiliary jack for mp3 devices, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat and 16-inch steel wheels. The camry le 21,050) and le v6 24,765) add an eight-way power driver's seat and remote keyless entry.  the camry se 22,365) and se v6 26,040) add a firmer, lowered suspension, flashy styling cues, unique interior trim, fog lights and p215/55r17 tires on 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels.  the camry xle 26,125) features glossy wood-grain interior trim and comes standard with the automatic. Xle models add dual-zone auto climate control with an electronic ion filter, a jbl audio upgrade with 440 watts, 6cd changer, bluetooth wireless telephone interface, power passenger seat, power sunroof, split 40/20/40 reclining rear seat, rear reading lamps, manual rear-window sunshade, and 16-inch alloy wheels. The electric motor augments the gas engine's performance and captures energy that would otherwise be wasted as the car slows and brakes, so it can reduce fuel consumption substantially. Stand-alone options include power tilt/slide sunroof 890), leather package for se v6 1,210) and hybrid 1,295), heated front seats 440), auto-dimming rearview mirror 150), heated outside mirrors 30), and 16-inch alloy wheels 410). Not all options are available for all trim levels.  safety features on all camrys include a full complement of airbags: dual-stage front airbags, a driver's-knee airbag, upper body-protecting side-impact airbags for front passengers, and head-protecting side air curtains for the front and rear seats. All models come with anti-lock brakes (abs), which aid steering control during a panic stop. The abs features brake assist, which applies the brakes more forcefully and consistently when it senses the onset of a panic stop, and electronic brake-force distribution (ebd), which balances brake application front and rear for optimal stopping distance. A tire-pressure monitor is standard, and vehicle stability control with traction control is standard on all camrys except the hybrid. walkaroundthe camry's front end is the boldest design element, with sharp points, curving cut lines and entertaining surface planes. The hood dips broadly through the middle, pushing visual heft out over the front fenders. There's a toyota emblem above horizontal slats. The single-piece fascia blends all the diverse elements into a smooth aerodynamic look that's several steps away from looking like just another midsize sedan.  the side view is less fashionable and somewhat bulky looking, with a high beltline, symmetrical windows and square doors, graced with a barely discernible character line running through flush-mounted door handles. The wheel openings are circular, which on a car with a lower profile might suggest sporty intentions. On the camry, they draw attention to the expanse of sheet metal between them, and instead whisper sedate.  the rear end, which looks somewhat like a miniaturized copy of the squared-off trunk lid of the bmw 7 series, finishes the side profile. That bustle-like hump gives the trailing edge of the trunk a slight aero-lip that suggests it's there to reduce rear lift at high speeds. An oversize toyota emblem perches atop the license plate recess. The taillamps repeat the theme of the headlamps and are nicely detailed. The bumper wraps around the back end, capping the corners beneath the taillights and sweeping into a soft, horizontal indentation that, on the v6-equipped models, finishes in cutouts for the chrome-tipped dual exhausts.  the camry se is the easiest model to distinguish, and perhaps the boldest of all. The inference of aero treatment on the trunk lid is boosted on the se with a true spoiler. A full body kit flares the lower edge of the car outward, emphasizing the sport model's lower ride height. Six-spoke, 17-inch aluminum wheels fill those circular wheel wells nicely.  there's aerodynamic massaging not obvious to the eye, particularly on the sport-tuned se and the other specialty camry, the hybrid. Engineers focused on making the underbody as flat as possible to smooth airflow under the car and reduce noise.  on the se, they also tuned the flow to balance downforce, or the aerodynamic force that presses the car to the pavement, nearly equally over the front and rear tires.  with the camry hybrid, the aerodynamic focus was on efficiency. Unique wheel spats and underbelly pans reduce the coefficient of drag (cd) to a low 0. 27. While the outside has been touched with a splash of pizzazz, the inside has been brushed with shades of elegance. The treatment is not quite up to, say, lexus-level luxury, but, especially in the top-of-the-line xle, this camry sets a high bar on interior polish for mid-price, mid-size sedans.  the cabin is trimmed with a brushed metallic finish in the base, le, se, and hybrid. Real-looking glossy wood grain is used inside the xle, including surrounds for the door-release handles.  the fabric upholstery combines breathable, waffle-texture insets with smooth bolsters and backing. The leather upgrade isn't quite kid glove, but it feels expensive. On the less positive side, the hard plastic covering the roof pillars looks cheap, and the mouse fur headliner disappoints.  the camry is a roomy sedan, with comfortable seats front and rear, though the seat bottoms are short on thigh support for taller occupants. Rear-seat passengers in the xle enjoy a luxury rarely seen in this class: reclining seatbacks.  the sloping hood delivers good sightlines from the driver's seat. The thick c-pillar (that part of the body supporting the roof behind the rear doors), looks less imposing to the driver than from outside the car. Low-profile rear-seat head restraints leave the view in the rearview mirror mostly unblocked. Outside mirrors are placed farther rearward than we'd like, forcing a turn of the head for quick checks instead of just glancing sideways.  almost everything inside the camry speaks refined function. The speedometer and tachometer are large, circular and easy to scan, save for brief periods at dusk and under certain types of street lighting, when the luminescent instruments on all but the se can wash out.

2013 toyota sienna review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Versatility and quiet ride make this an appealing minivan. introductionthe toyota sienna is a transportation solution for moving up to eight people and it does that well. It's also versatile as a cargo mover, with flexible interior configurations for any combination of passengers or cargo.  sienna excels in second-row passenger comfort and cargo flexibility. The second-row seats are mounted on very long sliders, so they can be moved far forward or far back, depending on the way the interior needs to be configured for people or cargo. With the second-row seats adjusted to the rearward limit, a walk-in isle is created, big enough for an adult to walk through to help a child or an older passenger. With the second-row seats adjusted all the way forward, walk-in access to the third row becomes possible. Toyota has made only minor changes since then, mostly upgrades to standard equipment and options.  the 2013 toyota sienna is available in five grades, with seating configurations for seven or eight. There are models aimed at practical transportation, models driven by luxury tastes. The sporty sienna se sits lower than the other models, on a sport-tuned suspension, with its electric power steering tuned for quicker response and better feedback, and it drives and handles more like a sports sedan. At the opposite extreme is the luxurious sienna limited, which has the nicest interior, and low-effort steering tuned for ease of operation, with high levels of power assist. That makes the sienna limited easy to park and maneuver at low speeds, but it also requires more attention to keep in the center of the lane when driving quickly. Sienna le and sienna xle models are somewhere in between, with steering and chassis priorities balanced 50/50 between comfort and handling.  all sienna models are powered by a 3. 5-liter v6 rated at 266 horsepower and come with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is optional. The v6 runs smoother at highway speed, with more reserve power for passing. Other upgrades relative to sienna l include eight-way power adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support, second and third-row sunshades, six-speaker audio, xm satellite radio, steering wheel controls for audio and telephone, bluetooth for hands-free cell phone operation and music streaming, compass and outside temperature displays, dual power sliding doors, homelink garage door opener. A sound-deadening acoustic windshield has been added for 2013.  sienna limited 40,105) and limited awd 41,475) get upgraded 6cd jbl audio with 10-speakers, overhead console, integrated antenna, chrome door handles, push-button start, smart key, deluxe mirrors, dual panel moonroof, sonar parking system, third-row seats that power stow in floor, memory for driver's seat, leather with wood steering wheel, 18-inch wheels with 235/55r18 all-season tires. Added for 2013 is a blind spot monitor with cross-traffic alert.  sienna se 33,725) features special body trim, 19-inch alloy wheels, sports suspension, and comes with exclusive instrumentation and unique interior colors and trim.  options are too numerous to list. Navigation is available on all but sienna l, but only in packages that bundle it with entune (toyota's package of popular mobile apps and information services), audio upgrades, and other features.  safety features include toyota's star safety system with anti-lock brakes (abs), electronic brake-force distribution (ebd), brake assist, vehicle stability control (vsc), and traction control; the mandated tire pressure monitor system; three-point seatbelts in all seating positions with adjustable seatbelt anchors on front and second row seats, driver's seatbelt emergency locking retractor (elr), and automatic locking retractors (alr) on all other seatbelts; front seatbelts with pretensioners and force limiters; driver and front passenger active headrests; driver and front passenger airbags with advanced airbag system; driver and front passenger seat-mounted side airbags; driver knee airbag; three-row side curtain airbags; side impact beams in front and sliding side doors; latch (lower anchors and tethers for children); child protector sliding door locks; jam protection for power windows. Optional all-wheel drive enhances safety in adverse conditions. The pre-collision system is optional with dynamic radar cruise control, vehicle dynamics integrated management system (vdim), and hill assist control (hac). Blind spot monitor with cross traffic control, safety connect, and front and rear sonar are optional or included on premium models. All of this stuff is a very good idea. All prices are manufacturer's suggested retail prices (msrp), which may change without notice at any time. Prices do not include destination charges. walkaroundthe toyota sienna presents a wide stance, with broad flared shoulders. Up front is a contemporary face with sophisticated, highly angular headlamps. The lights have projector lamps and halogen high beams combined in a compact, slender design.  from the side, the sienna looks sleek, and less boxy in than some other vans. The track for the sliding rear doors is concealed, so the rear doors look like they belong on a sedan or crossover suv. The rear windows are shaped in a tapered trapezoid and inclined inward like a sedan, again contradicting the standard boxy minivan look.  the rear has been designed with a low, wide bumper and a roof spoiler that hides the rear wiper, for a stronger, cleaner appearance. Led tail and stop lamps are used, which illuminate more quickly and consume less power.  overall, the exterior looks clean and sleek, and it is. Aerodynamic work, including underbody covers to help manage airflow, keeps the coefficient of drag relatively low, at 0. 31 cd.  there are quite a few exterior differences from model to model. Wheels may be 17, 18, or 19 inches depending on the model and options. Sienna xle, se, and limited models have front fog lamps in the lower valence, and limited has hid headlamps as an option. The se has dark chrome accents around the lights and smoked headlight covers.  the sienna se gets other special styling cues. The front has a more aggressive appearance. Side skirting visually lowers the vehicle and smoked headlights and taillights make a distinctive statement. Aerodynamic sculpting hugs the standard 19-inch alloy wheels. The se sits lower, on a sport-tuned suspension. interiorthe sienna interior looks modern, with flowing lines and round controls to achieve a unified, integrated design. Prominently visible at the base of the center stack is a shape, something like a tadpole, that tapers laterally toward the passenger, to create the feeling that there is more room to share. Instead, the design suggests shared space and control areas, in a freshly contemporary atmosphere.  design aside, the center stack contains the usual controls, with the message center at the top, the audio system just below, the climate control system below that, and storage and convenience features, such as cupholders and 12-volt plugs, at the lowest level. The shifter is located on the dash, closest to the driver, freeing center console space for storage.  there are three instrument designs. The standard analog system uses bright blue numbering with red needles. In all three designs, a large speedometer and tach are combined with fuel and temperature gauges. The automatic transmission range and odometer are displayed on the lcd in the center of the meter, and an eco-drive light indicates economical driving. The wheel tilts and telescopes.  the front seats are passenger-car comfortable. Driver's seats are six-way adjustable on the base sienna model, and eight-way adjustable on all other models, with power on all but le memory available on limited models. 2014 toyota tacoma review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The tacoma is toyota's compact pick-up truck offering - just the right size for all but the most serious contractor. Regular and extra cabs come with six-foot beds; double cabs have the choice of a shorter five-foot or six-foot box length. A 236-hp 4. 0-liter v6 is standard on all double cabs and optional on 4wd access cabs. The v6 is paired with a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic. 2010 toyota prius review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. It's sleeker and better looking, and more powerful while delivering an epa-rated 51/48 mpg city/highway, up by 3 miles per gallon.  the hybrid mechanicals are lighter by 65 pounds, while being more efficient and presumably stronger. The 1. 8-liter gas engine is also new, producing more horsepower while being more efficient. Ev is all electric, for very short distances at speeds under 25 mph; eco provides the best fuel mileage, without noticeably compromising performance; and power, the default mode, is needed for brisk acceleration.  handling is nimble enough at slow speeds, and the brakes are sensitive while being stacked with electronic capabilities for safety. There are seven airbags including one for the driver's knees. The ride can be harsh over the wrong bumps, and interior noise is surprisingly high despite increased sound insulation. Because toyota wants to stay focused on the prius name, there are no models with names of their own. There are the prius ii, iii, iv and v. Prius ii 22,000) is fully equipped and is expected to be the most popular. Prius iii 23,000) adds a premium jbl sound system and bluetooth capability.  prius iv 25,800) adds leather seats and upgraded trim, heated front seats, water repellent window glass, plasma instrument cluster, homelink, and a smart key system. Prius v 27,270) adds 17-inch alloy wheels, led headlamps, and foglamps.  options include the navigation package 1,800) with voice-activated dvd navigation with bluetooth, xm traffic and a backup camera. The solar roof package 3,600) adds a solar powered ventilation system to the navigation package. The advanced technology package 4,500) includes a pre-collision system that automatically dabs the brakes and reduces crash impact speed by a slight amount, radar cruise control, lane keep assist, intelligent park assist, and the navigation package.  safety equipment standard on all models includes dual-stage front airbags, side airbags in front, airbag curtains, and driver's knee airbag; active headrests; tire pressure monitor with warning light; anti-lock brakes with brake assist and brake force distribution; and a sophisticated stability control system working with traction control. Optional safety equipment includes a pre-collision system that uses the same radar antenna as the radar cruise control. It applies the brakes harder than the driver does if a collision is imminent and applies them even if the driver doesn't to reduce the collision impact by 0. 7g. walkaroundthere are significant changes in the styling of the new 2010 prius, all of them good we think, resulting in a sleeker car. The coefficient of drag has been reduced to 0. 25 from 0. 26, enabling the prius to continue its rein as one of the world's most slippery passenger cars. It's about half an inch longer, all in the cowl, a result of a-pillars that are moved forward to radically rake the windshield; and about 3/4-inch wider.  the roof is the same height, but its apex is moved back 3. 9 feet, smoothing the aerodynamic wedge. It's got a discreet double hump that adds character and curiosity.  the upper grille opening is smaller and tidier to more efficiently move air over the hood. A new lip over the rear deck not only improves air flow, it eliminates the chopped-off-tail look of the previous prius. The fender arches are a bit more aggressive, almost bulkier looking, but they reflect additional aero improvement. The bumpers are sharper and squarer at the corners than before. There's a styling tweak, like a wave or a lip or, with a stretch of the imagination, a lightning bolt at the top, and it works, to deliver distinction. The taillights are standard led, reducing power draw by 88 percent.  the rear wiper is huge, and effective in keeping rain off all that glass back there. The matt black trim around the windows on the prius ii and iii trim levels doesn't do much to complement the car; the satin black finish on the prius iv and v is nicer. interiorthe prius interior is satisfying, at least with the optional leather we tested. There's a nice cozy cockpit feeling in the driver's seat, nestled by a stylish center console that runs from dashboard to between the seats at a gentle slope. The cvt shift lever is located there, just ahead of the world's easiest-to-reach cubby. Oddly, the heated seats button is located on the floor under the console, as if they ran out of wire and it couldn't reach.  the upper and lower gloveboxes hold a magnificent 12 liters. The all-new front seats are comfortable with increased bolstering and adjustability, addressing complaints about the previous prius. The trim looks nice, and toyota claims it's made of plant-derived resin ecologically friendly plastic with excellent recycling characteristics.  there's 20 mm (0. 8 inches) more rear legroom, partly due to thinner front seatbacks. The 60/40 split rear seats (with folding armrest having two cupholders) drop flat, yielding nearly 39. 6 cubic feet of cargo volume, easily accessible through the big liftgate. And there's another 2 cubic feet in the tray for tools and laptops, hiding under the floor of the cargo area. The compact spare tire is another level down. The larger engine provides more torque, allowing the prius to maintain freeway speeds at lower rpm, boosting fuel mileage. It's an atkinson cycle engine (different valve timing and breathing). Co2 emissions have been reduced from a score that already tops the charts.  the hybrid synergy drive system, with two compact motor generators within the transaxle, increases operating voltage from 500v to 650v. Gear drive replaces chains in the motor, increasing the motor's rpm to 13,500 from 6400. The improved power control unit (inverter) is more compact and cooler running. The nickel-metal hydride battery pack is more compact and powerful, like all the rest. All told, there's a savings of 65 pounds.  the accessory drive belts have been eliminated, with such things as the ac compressor and water pump now driven electrically. But we wonder why anyone would drive around town in power mode, because eco feels no slower. The prius accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 9. 8 seconds, usually f. 2005 toyota corolla review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Smooth and refined, practical and reliable. introductiontoyota corolla is among the best of the compact sedans: reliable and economical yet refined and comfortable. The 2005 corolla line sees the addition of a sporty new xrs model, while the entire line gets some enhancements. All 2005 corollas feature a restyled front fascia and redesigned tail lamps.  a corolla le equipped with the optional leather interior almost feels like a miniature luxury car, a baby lexus. For 2005, the corolla le gets a lexus-like optitron center cluster meters along with fabric-covered sunvisors and center console lid. The new xrs model addresses this with a sports suspension and a 170-horsepower 1. 8-liter engine. This is in addition to optional anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, which improve steering control in an emergency stopping situation and enhance braking stability and effectiveness.  cloth or leather, the seats are comfortable and supportive. Big heating and air conditioning controls, simple, straightforward radio controls, well-designed cup holders, and plenty of cubbies for storing stuff make for a convenient interior. Corolla earns an epa-estimated 32/40 mpg city/highway when equipped with a manual transmission. Both the manual and the automatic transmissions offer smooth shifting, and the manual is very easy to operate. All models have a smooth, comfortable ride and responsive handling. It also gets wider 195/65r15 tires. Inside, the s gets a unique cloth interior, a sporty tachometer, chrome accents, and a nice leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. The s model gets vertical seat-height adjustment, power door locks, power mirrors, and mirror-mounted map lights. The le adds remote keyless entry, power windows, halogen headlamps, and variable intermittent wipers. The le gets body-colored door handles, lacks the sporty body cladding of the s and looks the better for it. In place of the s model's sporty interior finish, the le gets wood-like trim and upgraded cloth seating surfaces. An optional leather package 900) is available for the le that gives the car a luxurious feel and includes cruise control. Aluminum wheels 390) are available, which improve the appearance of the le and should improve its handling slightly.  anti-lock brakes (abs) with electronic brake-force distribution 300) and side-impact airbags 250) are optional on most models, but can help avoid accidents or reduce injuries in the event of a crash. Other options include cruise control 250) and a sunroof 750).  the new corolla xrs 17,455) is powered by a 170-horsepower 1. 8-liter mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The xrs features a sport-tuned suspension with revised steering and 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels and michelin performance tires, an upgrade from the standard 15-inch wheels on all other corolla grades. Special interior and exterior trim distinguishes the xrs. Additional standard equipment includes anti-lock brakes with tire pressure monitors, front and rear disc brakes, and cruise control. walkaroundthe 2005 corolla features a newly designed front bumper, grille and headlamps. At the rear are subtly revised tail lamps.  the corolla looks like a small camry. Its ovoid headlights are similar and its rakish yet curved shape is in keeping with the newest camry and lexus es 300. Thick a-pillars at the front and thick c-pillars at the rear give the corolla a solid look while hefty bumpers add to its substantial appearance.  corolla comes standard with 15-inch steel wheels, but looks like it could do with larger wheels and tires that would fill out the wheel wells more effectively. For 2005, the value-driven ce and the premium le receive new wheel cover designs. Aluminum 15-inch wheels 390) are an option for le models.  at the rear, the corolla has a high trunk line in keeping with the car's high belt line. The taillights match the shape of the headlights nicely. Part of the taillight module is actually mounted in the trunk lid. This is fine except that the design causes the trunk lid to be narrower than it might be.  the doors have reasonably wide openings, which makes getting in and out easy. That's a benefit of the long wheelbase (102. 4 inches), which also means that the rear wheel wells do not protrude into the rear door as much as they do on some cars. Another benefit of a longer wheelbase is shorter overhangs at the front and rear (the distance from the wheels to the ends of the car). Short overhangs improve the car's looks, and the handling.  the 2005 corolla s receives a new front spoiler and fog lamps, and smoked headlamp masking. The s is further distinguished by its body-colored side rocker panels and rear skirt.  the xrs gets 16-inch wheels that visually fill the wheel wells better. Distinguishing the xrs are a rear color-keyed spoiler, a color-keyed bezel surrounding the grille, and unique badging. interiorthe corolla's interior doesn't feel like a small car nor does it feel cheap, like many compacts do. Big and tall people will find accommodations cramped, but shorter people often find the corolla fits them perfectly. There's plenty of front legroom and headroom and there's a decent amount of room in the back for two average-size adults. Although there are seat belts for a third rear-seat passenger, there's definitely a shortage of space for that person.  materials used in the seats appear classy with nice fit and finish. The leather seats have a luxurious soft pleated finish, while the center console and door panels have wood-like veneer trim. Okay it's fake but it's so well made that it looks more realistic than some real wood found in luxury cars. Both the le and s models get a sporty leather-wrapped steering wheel that adds to the enjoyment of driving.  the xrs gets sport seats, a silver-colored instrument cluster and switch plates, optitron meters, and a leather-like shift boot and leather shift knob.  the dashboard is nicely laid out with exemplary ergonomics and a finish comparable to that of more expensive cars. Its top surface sweeps across the width of the car in a slight s-curve and wraps into the door trim. Each side of the center console seamlessly blends up to the lower portion of the dash. The handle for the parking brake is located on the left of the center console so there's room for a small storage cubbyhole on the right. Storage spaces are quite generous with small pockets in each door and the glove box is large. Map lights on corolla s and le are mounted on the rearview mirror, not the ideal location.  three overlapping round gauges in the instrument pod contain a large speedometer, a smaller tachometer to the left and a water temperature gauge and fuel gauge mounted in a matching circle to the right. They incorporate red lettering on a plain white background and are easy to read at night. There's also an outside temperature readout on all models.  the rear seats split 60/40 to allow access from the trunk, though the opening is not that large, limiting pass-through with large cargo. The trunk is one of the biggest in this class. The gooseneck hinges intrude into the cargo space and can crush fragile items if they are in the way. Many auto manufacturers have switched to the scissor-type hinges that are located outside the storage space, though this design often results in a smaller trunk opening.  all in all, the interior has.

2010 toyota rav4 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Getting in and out of the driver's seat is easy. It can move lots of people or lots of gear on a moment's notice. And it comes standard with a long list of safety equipment. We prefer the five-passenger configuration.  we found the rav4 smooth and stable underway. The sport model has a harder ride due to its suspension tuning. Ordered with the optional v6, the rav4 really scoots, boasting 269 horsepower.  for 2010 the rav4 is unchanged except for feature packaging. lineupthe toyota rav4 comes in three trim levels: base 21,500), sport 23,200) and limited 24,490). The v6 is upgraded with p225/65r17 tires on styled steel wheels. All models come with a full-size spare tire.  options at the base level include a third-row seat 840-940); six-cd changer 260); a selection of 17-inch wheels, both styled steel 120) and aluminum 440-560); a roof rack with crossbars 220); rear privacy glass 310); a cargo cover 90); daytime running lights 40); and a towing package for the v6 160) that includes a heavy-duty radiator fan coupling, transmission oil cooler, and 150-amp alternator. The tow package increases the rav4's towing capacity from 2,000 to 3,500 pounds.  rav4 sport adds a handling-tuned suspension and p235/55r18 tires on alloy wheels, plus fog lamps, rear privacy glass, color-keyed trim outside, unique charcoal fabric, and a rear spoiler. Options expand to include a power tilt-and-slide glass sunroof 900), navigation 1,550), a premium package, which includes leather upholstery with eight-way power driver's seat 1,930), a back-up monitor 475), and auto on/off headlights 70). An extra value package 470) combines the sunroof with a roof rack, daytime running lights, and six-cd changer. The third-row seat is not offered on the sport. The sport appearance package 577), available only on sport models with the v6 and 4wd, takes the spare wheel off the rear door and substitutes run-flat tires. It also adds power heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a stainless steel exhaust tip, and additional interior brightwork.  rav4 limited upgrades with dual-zone automatic climate control, six-cd changer, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, leather-wrapped shift knob, cargo net and tonneau cover, heated and foldable power outside mirrors with new integrated turn signals, roof rails, engine immobilizer, the smart entry system, and other amenities. Outside, the limited is distinguished by a unique grille and front bumper, p225/65r17 tires on six-spoke alloy wheels, and a full hard-shell spare tire cover. Options include the third-row seat 750-850), eight-way power driver's seat without leather 440), and a premium jbl stereo with bluetooth phone connectivity 610), plus most of the options from the sport level, mostly for the same prices. Two extra value packages bundle the jbl stereo, bluetooth, sunroof, power adjustable heated seats, and daytime running lamps; one includes navigation 2,110), the other doesn't 1,240).  safety features on all rav4s include dual-stage frontal airbags, side-impact airbags, and side-curtain airbags. Active headrests on the driver and front passenger seats move up and forward in certain rear-end collisions to help reduce the distance between the occupant's head and the headrest. Front seatbelts incorporate pre-tensioners and force limiters. Also standard are latch child safety seat anchors, antilock brakes (abs) with brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution (ebd), electronic stability control (vsc), traction control (trac), and a tire-pressure monitor. walkaroundthe rav4 looks like other contemporary toyotas, featuring an aerodynamically efficient ovoid profile strategically relieved by sharp character lines. A coefficient of drag of 0. 33 is among the best in its segment and a major factor in minimizing wind noise and maximizing fuel economy.  the rav4's truck-like front end is tautly composed. Visually, the fenders are separate elements from the engine bay, a situation emphasized by a tight rectangular grille that seems to sit comfortably atop the wider bumper slits below. Headlights are compact and focused. Vertical brake scoops, lined with black ribs, bite into the bumper beneath the headlights -- fog lights nestle into these scoops on sport models.  limiteds have a look all their own, with a single, deep, trapezoidal grille opening bolding bisected by a body-color horizontal bar with a large, chrome toyota world-t badge at its center. A pseudo-skid plate wraps up from the bottom, leaving no room for additional lower air intakes. Tubular nacelles supporting the fog lights replace the brake scoops of base and sport models.  alloy wheels have five spokes on sport, six on limited. A wide track gives the rav4 a solid stance visually, while resisting rollovers in emergency maneuvers.  the side view is oblong, a mix of boxy and oval, the better to accommodate that third-row seat. An understated indent runs along the bottom of the rav4's doors, softening the visual impression of bulk. Taillights are positioned high on the rear fenders. The spare tire bolts into a recess offset to the right in the swing-gate, and doesn't dip below the bumper line. The rear license plate, sunk into the lower left side of the swing-gate below the handle, visually balances the spare. The sport model's spoiler hangs conspicuously off the top edge of the roof.  the sport appearance package eliminates the spare entirely, and centers the license plate up high. A bulge low down on the tailgate fills in the step in the standard bumper when the tailgate is closed. A handle on the left side still betrays the gate's swing-open design, but in spite of this the overall look with the sport appearance package is remarkably more car-like, more station wagon than suv. interiorinside, the rav4 is functional, if a bit eccentric in style. Placement of the gauges will be familiar to anyone who has owned a previous rav4. The position and function of the controls populating the center stack is very good; that also applies to the arrangement of the hand brake and the shift lever. The dash is sharply split by a horizontal indentation running the width of the car. About the only plus we found in this garish feature is a bi-level glove box, with an upper bin covered by a retracting lid and a lower bin fitted with a traditional, bottom-hinged cover.  materials are high quality. Fit and finish is toyota grade, which means excellent. All three trim levels share the same motif, with contrasting but complementary colors and brushed metallic trim elements around the stereo and climate controls, surrounding the shift gate and swooping around the door handles. The standard side-curtain airbags allow a passenger assist grip, which folds down from the headliner over each door.  the front seats are supportive but not overly firm, with modest bolsters and decent thigh support. The tilt-and-telescope steering wheel and height-adjustable driver's seat enable almost any size driver to find a comfortable fit, and without the added complexity (and cost) of adjustable pedals. The relatively high seating position, low cowl and sloping hood make for good visibility to the front. The lengthy side windows ease lane checking. Fully retracting head restraints in the second row and optional third row seats improve the viewing range through the inside mirror.  the second-row seats are less padded than the front seats, without bolsters. It's no surprise, really, seeing as how that seat has to fit three people in a pinch.  the optional third row seats barely qualify as such, with flat bottoms and equally featureless backs and head restraints. Access to that back row, by folding and tilting the outboard second-row seats, is not especially easy, but it isn't as much of a strain or as awkward as in some larger, full-sized sport utilities.  storage areas are plentiful. Beyond the glove box, the doors have fixed plastic map pockets, the backs of the front seatbacks wear net pouches, and a total of 10 cup holders are situated about the cabin. When the third-row s.

2012 toyota camry review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Redesigned for 2012. introductionthe 2012 toyota camry is the seventh generation, with redesigns coming every five years since 1982. Toyota claims that the new camry is not only the current bestselling midsize sedan, but also the safest, quietest, and most fuel-efficient. Five models of the 2012 camry range from the stripped-down l to the sport-tuned se to the hybrid.  new for 2012, the camry hasn't changed its size, as the wheelbase, length, track and height are within fractions of an inch of those of the sixth-generation 2011 model. But the sheetmetal is totally new, and a new roofline makes it slightly more slippery. The 2012 camry's lines are attractive, and it's clearly more contemporary than the 2011. What toyota calls aero-corner design enhances this image. Interior dimensions stay the same within fractions of those of the previous version. There's a bit more backseat legroom, and some interior parts have been thinned to create more eye, knee and elbow room. The instrument panel is pretty and functional, storage spaces well thought-out, and a 60/40 split rear seat is standard. A new leather dashboard is neat and stylish.  for powertrains, the standard i4 and optional v6 engines are carryovers from 2010 and 2011, respectively. Six-speed automatic transmissions are standard. The standard 2. 5-liter i4 has double vvt-i technology, making 178 horsepower. The 3. 5-liter v6 produces 268 horsepower. It reflects ongoing research in impact energy management.  the tuned suspension in the camry se might be too firm for some; we didn't find the se uncomfortable, but we did find the softer camry xle more relaxing around town. We preferred the se's tighter steering in all circumstances.  the camry hybrid uses a new 2. 5-liter atkinson cycle engine, with more horsepower and electric power than before. It feels like a totally different car than the i4 or v6, as it slows everything down and makes the vehicle feel bigger. The 2012 camry hybrid le is rated by the government at 43/39 mpg, camry hybrid xlt at 40/38 mpg. lineupthe 2012 toyota camry comes in five models. Camry l 21,955) uses the 2. 5-liter i4 and is hard to find. More likely is a well-equipped camry le 22,500), which comes standard with power doors and windows, cruise control, 60/40 rear folding seats, overhead console, display with 6. 1-inch screen, am/fm/cd/mp3/usb with ipod, bluetooth hands-free phone capability, projector beam headlamps, manual front seat adjustment, and 16-inch steel wheels with wheelcovers.  camry xle 24,725) adds a power moonroof, foglamps, heated outside mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather-trimmed seats, heated front seats, power front seats, back-up camera, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Camry xle v6 29,845) upgrades to the 3. 5-liter v6 engine.  the sporty camry se 23,000) and se v6 26,640) has a thoroughly tuned suspension, sport mesh body-colored front grille, halogen headlamps, rocker panels and rear spoiler, softex-trimmed sport seats, paddle shifters, and 18-inch alloy wheels on the v6, 17-inch on the i4.  safety equipment standard on all models includes 10 airbags, electronic stability control with traction control, abs with brake assist and brake force distribution, and a tire pressure monitoring system. walkaroundthe redesigned 2012 camry hasn't changed its size, as the wheelbase, length, track and height are the same within fractions of an inch. But the sheetmetal is 100 percent new, and a new roofline makes it slightly more slippery, at 0. 27 cd vs. It's quite attractive for a vanilla car, with clean sides and nice edges, with no lumpy cladding or gratuitous chrome. Indeed it has lost weight, 150 pounds (220 pounds for the hybrid). It might all be under the skin, but no matter, it's all good. What toyota calls aero-corner design enhances this image. Hips and shoulders tucked in.  the camry le uses wheelcovers over 16-inch steel wheels, the camry xle uses 17-inch alloy wheels, and the camry se uses 17- or 18-inchers. All three styles successfully avoid cookie cutting, with the le's 20-spoke titanium-tinted wheelcovers ironically being the most ambitious and eye-catching, if not the classiest.  the new roofline angles the windshield more steeply. There's a nice character line under the windows slanting slightly up to the rear deck, where there's a small spoiler lip on the se. Windows outlined in chrome, but no more, except for a thin strip at the rocker level on the le and xle. Body-colored door handles on all models.  the face of the camry se is tweaked, for the better, with body color over the black mesh grille, and more aggressive air intakes in the valance under the bumper. Headlamps are the same, angled, narrow and sleek, with a neat little notch in the line at the bottom. interiorinterior dimensions for the seventh-generation 2012 camry are within fractions of an inch of the sixth-generation (2007-11) models. There's a bit more backseat legroom, with 38. 9 inches on a flat rear floor decent for a midsize car. Some interior parts have been thinned to create more eye, knee and elbow room: a-pillars, control panels on the doors, front seatbacks, center console.  interior materials are different depending on the model, with the camry l, le and xle using a nice standard fabric, and the camry se fabric with softex synthetic leather trim. Real leather is available on the camry xle i4 and standard on the xle v6, with leather-trimmed ultrasuede available on the se and xle hybrid.  the fit of the front buckets is good on the camry le and xle, with more bolstering on the se. The camry hybrid has its own material, more like the se. The standard leather is overlapped in an arc with neat stitching, for a saddle-like effect; new passengers will compliment it and maybe run their hands over the seam. The little window for the clock up at the top looks like a hood scoop.  we found the driver's position comfortable, with thoughtful padding for the driver's right leg against the center console, and high armrests. Decent door pocket, great cubby forward in the center console, big glovebox with light door.  the instrument panel is all new for 2012. We wonder what the stripper camry l model without the 3d face looks like. Instruments are the same, only difference is in the rings around the gauges, chrome or satin.  the hybrid's panel is the same only prettier. In toyota-speak it has optitron meters with white illumination, blue metallic printing, and white lighting pointer. Another plus: relocation of the battery packs increase the trunk space in the camry hybrid to 13. 1 cubic feet (from the previous 10. 6).  trunk space on all camry models except the hybrid is a roomy 15. 4 cubic feet.  the manually operated climate control has big dials and easy buttons on the camry le. The automatic climate control on camry xle uses a 6. 1-inch lcd touch-screen also used for radio tuning, and navigation. Safely and simply they say, and we say don't believe it. It can all be bundled with navigation and satellite radio and voice recognition, and controlled on the 7-inch touch screen. That's because the camry se is tighter than the camry xle or le; and the 178-hp i4 is quick, silent and smooth, no matter that the 268-hp v6 is faster. Both the i4 and v6 are carried over, the i4 new in 2010 and v6 new for 2011.  on the camry xle, using the lighter 6-speed for the i4, we noted good ratios, smooth upshifts and invisible kickdowns around town. With the i4, to get 30 mpg with that kind of performance is great. Climate Control✔ AM/FM✔ Cruise Control✔ Sunroof/Moonroof✔ Bluetooth✔ Backup Camera✔ Alloy Wheels

2005 toyota tundra review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. More power for this agile pickup. introductionthe toyota tundra gets a significant increase in power for 2005, and fuel economy has been improved. A new 4. 0-liter v6 delivers 245 horsepower, matching the output of last year's v8 and representing an increase in power of nearly 30 percent over last year's v6. Meanwhile, the 4. 7-liter double overhead-cam v8 has been refined with toyota's vvt-i technology, bringing it up to 282 horsepower, an increase of 42 horsepower over last year's v8. Both engines are now available with responsive five-speed automatics; and the v6 is available with a new six-speed manual transmission. There are other refinements as well.  the tundra is one of the smoothest, quietest, and most refined pickups we've driven. It's more agile than other full-size pickups, at least partly because it's slightly smaller. The tundra feels quick and responsive, lighter on its feet and more refined than the domestic trucks. Critics call it a 7/8ths truck. It isn't quite as good at being a truck as the other trucks when hauling or towing, but it's capable of hauling up to 2025 pounds or towing up to 7100, if equipped to do so. Not everyone needs the ultimate in truck capability, though. The double cab is more than three inches taller, and is built on a longer chassis than the other tundra models; so it comes a little closer to being a true full-size pickup. Three trim levels are available: base, sr5, and limited. Access cab v8 models are available with a full-width or stepside bed.  two engines are available, and both are more potent for 2005. The base v6 has grown from 3. 4 to 4. 0 liters. It still breathes through dual-overhead-cam (dohc) heads, and now uses toyota's computer-controlled variable valve timing with intelligence (vvt-i) to produce 245 horsepower, 5 more than last year's v8, and 55 more than the 190-horsepower rating of the 2004 v6. Torque is up significantly as well, from 220 to 282 pound-feet. The optional i-force dohc v8 sticks with its previous 4. 7-liter displacement, but acquires vvt-i to boost horsepower from 240 to 282, and torque from 315 pound-feet to 325. Transmissions are new, too. The v6 now comes with a new six-speed manual. A new five-speed automatic is optional 770-$840) with the v6, standard with the v8.  base models are pretty plain, starting with the v6 regular cab 2wd with six-speed manual 15,955). Bumpers are painted, but anti-lock brakes (abs) are standard. Sr5 models come standard with air conditioning; cruise control; tilt steering; power windows, locks and mirrors; remote keyless entry; sliding rear window; am/fm/cassette stereo; tachometer; color-keyed front and chromed rear bumper; styled steel wheels; and other trim upgrades. The v6 and six-speed manual are standard in sr5 access cabs, but the five-speed automatic is available, as is the v8 engine. The v8 is standard in sr5 double cabs.  limited models come standard with the v8, and are available in access cab 27,075) or double cab 29,745). The limited's long list of standard equipment includes an in-dash cd changer, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, and an anti-theft system. A sport suspension package for 2wd v8 models features tokico shocks, springs tuned for handling, a 3. 91:1 limited-slip rear differential, and graphite-tone 17-inch alloy wheels wearing p265/65r17 tires. walkaroundthe toyota tundra is a good-looking truck, with a bold grille opening that extends down into the bumper. The heavy-looking chrome grille bars faintly suggest the 1947 gmc design, a model now popular with collectors. Curving lines give the tundra a sporty appearance, while bulging fenders make it look ready to go off road. However, the tundra's styling is bland compared to the nissan titan, dodge ram, or ford f-150. Toyota's stepside body is more svelte than macho. I don't like it.  the tundra double cab looks bigger and brawnier than the regular cab and access cab models. That's because it is bigger, not only longer in wheelbase, but more than three inches taller as well. Around back, double cab models sport unique taillights. At 74. 3 inches, the double cab's bed is just a half-inch shorter than the access cab's. Fortunately, the inside of the rear door is padded, so this isn't a big problem. Handles for the rear doors are conveniently located on the outside, whereas most domestic pickups with extended cabs hide the handles inside the door jams. Unfortunately, the handle design isn't the most comfortable to use.  regular cab beds stretch over 8 feet, but the access cab's bed measures only 6 feet 3 inches. That's a few inches inches shorter than the medium-length bed offered on a ford f-150 supercab, but 7. 7 inches longer than an f-150 supercab's shortest bed (which still requires a wheelbase 4. 4 inches longer than the toyota's). Toyota's bed is 5 inches shallower than ford's, 2. 3 inches shallower than the chevrolet silverado's.  double cab beds are only about a half-inch shorter than the access cab's. The double cab's bed is 20. 7 inches deep, 3. 5 inches deeper than the beds of the regular cab and access cab. That makes it slightly deeper than the nissan titan crew cab's bed, though still not as deep as the ford's. interiorthe tundra is a comfortable truck with a friendly interior. Front-seat roominess is competitive with other full-size pickups. Toyota claims the tundra provides more front legroom than any of the domestic pickups, though only by about half an inch; and the nissan titan has only a tiny edge over tundra. The others, especially the f-150, offer more hip room than the tundra, however, and owners notice that.  the double cab is slightly roomier than the other tundra models. Double cabs come with bucket seats up front, rather than the split bench.  climbing in is easy, though the two-wheel-drive model seems to sit higher off the ground than other two-wheel-drive pickups. The tundra feels tall in the saddle, giving the driver a commanding view over shorter vehicles.  accessory switches are concentrated in the center cluster for easy operation. The fake wood on the dash is dreadful, but the instruments are straightforward, with a big tachometer on all but base models. Its lid holds a pad for note-taking, but it felt flimsy when we tried to use it. Double sun visors with extenders are useful at sunrise and sunset.  access cabs add interior storage space and the ability to carry two more passengers. If those passengers are adults, however, the rear seat is a short-term affair. The tundra does not have nearly as much space in the rear compartment of its extended cab as the other full-size pickups. And the rear seatback is vertical, forcing occupants to sit bolt upright, uncomfortable for traveling any farther than the neighborhood restaurant. A far better use for the extended cab is carrying dry cleaning, groceries, briefcases, outdoor gear, or anything else that should be shielded from the elements. Unfortunately, the rear seat takes up a fair amount of room. The seat bottom on the split bench can be flipped up, but the seat doesn't fold completely out of the way, nor can it be easily removed. Some of the domestic extended cabs offer much better versatility.  double cabs, on the other hand, provide genuinely useful space for adult passengers in the back seats. Its 37. 5 inches of rear-seat legroom make for comfortable accommodations, though tundra's back seat still doesn't have as much space as in the nissan titan, ford f-150, chevrolet silverado or gmc sierra. But tundra's rear seatback reclines at an angle of 24 degrees, adding to comfort. Each rear seating position has a headrest and three-point safety belt. Rear-seat passengers also enjoy their own heating and air conditioning outlets, and optional audio and dvd entertainment systems. 2008 toyota tacoma review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The benchmark for mid-size pickups. introductionin a field of outstanding trucks, the toyota tacoma stands out as one of the best, perhaps the best, of a very good bunch. Its on-road handing is responsive, its off-road capability is proven. The double cab delivers more rear-seat comfort than most of the competition, with enough room to rival a small sedan. There are no other changes for 2008. For 2007, toyota upgraded the front seats for enhanced interior comfort, while chrome-rimmed instruments and new audio head units brightened its two-tone instrument panel.  compact pickups aren't what they used to be. For one thing, they're no longer compact. Nor are they uncomfortable. They're more comfortable and more capable than ever before. lineupthe 2008 toyota tacoma is available in 18 different configurations, including regular cab, access cab (extended cab) and double cab (crew cab) body styles. A 4. 0-liter v6 is standard on double cabs and optional 1,555) on 4wd access cabs. Air conditioning is optional.  access cab 17,720) and double cab 24,735) models add more standard features, including air conditioning and functional consoles for the floor and ceiling. Double cabs come with upgraded seat fabric, plus power windows, mirrors and door locks. Access and double cabs also get upgraded six-speaker audio systems, and offer an in-dash six-cd changer 200); double cabs offer a premium jbl system 560) with cd changer and amplified subwoofer. And all double cab prerunners come with automatic transmission.  x-runner 24,045) features unique styling cues and a chassis tuned for on-road performance. Its name refers to the additional x-shaped brace added stiffen its frame against high cornering loads. Trd sport is available on any tacoma v6.  the trd offroad package 3,045-$3,755) starts with sr5 package 2 equipment and adds or substitutes bf goodrich p265/70r16 owl tires, locking rear differential, off-road suspension with bilstein shock absorbers, engine skidplate, sport seats, overhead console with compass and outside temperature, heavy-duty front tow hook, 115v/400w deck-mounted powerpoint, and unique trd graphics. All-weather floor mats are also part of the package, which is available only on v6 models with black, white, or silver paint.  options for the tacoma include a tow package 650) for v6 models that comprises a 130-amp alternator, heavy-duty battery, transmission oil cooler, and a class iv hitch with seven-pin connector.  saf. walkaroundthe toyota tacoma is an attractive truck, though not as stylish as its competitors from nissan and dodge. Big headlights and a bold grille highlight the tacoma's front end. Flush rear surface glass and flush surface structures between the bumper sides and body give it a polished look. Prerunner and 4wd models are distinguished by bold overfenders.  overall length of the tacoma varies by body style: regular cabs are the shortest and most maneuverable, measuring 190. 4 inches overall on a 109. 4-inch wheelbase. Access cab and double cab short-bed models have a 127. 2-inch wheelbase and 208. 1-inch overall length. Double cab long-bed models are quite long at 221. 3 inches overall on a 140. 9-inch wheelbase. All models have six-foot beds except the double cab short-bed, which has a five-foot bed.  how to choose? Regular cab models pack lots of cargo space in a relatively small package, good for maneuverability in the big city. Regular cab prerunners and 4wd's also have the best break-over angle due to their short length, and therefore offer the best capability off road. Access cabs feature large dual rear auxiliary doors, not good for people but very good for gear. Double cabs have long, conventionally hinged rear doors that open 80 degrees for ease of entry or loading gear. Double cabs offer the people-carrying comfort of a sport-utility. Long-bed double cabs can carry more stuff but are unwieldy in tight places.  tacoma comes with a composite inner bed, lighter than steel yet tougher and more durable. The rails are compatible with genuine toyota accessories, including cargo-bed cross bars, a fork-mount bike rack, and diamond-plate storage boxes. interiorall of the latest-generation midsize pickups have decent interiors, but the quality of toyota's interior materials seems just a little better. The lower dash and console are a lighter color than the main upper dash, brightening the interior. Chrome rings surround the three clustered gauges. Not everyone loves the perforated silver plastic used for the center stack. But the cloth upholstery is decent and the seats look nice.  in fact, toyota made the tacoma's seats bigger last year, which was an improvement. The manually adjustable seats include lumbar adjustment but no adjustment for seat height or the angle of the seat bottom, whereas the power seats on the nissan frontier have these features.  overall, the tacoma provides the driver with a good driving position. Big mirrors afford a good view to the rear.  solid cup holders are provided in the center console area. On models that don't have sport seats, the front passenger's seatback flips down to form a tray table or to make room for long objects, a handy feature. Big rotary knobs make it easy to adjust cabin temperature even with gloves on; the knobs are electronic, so they're easy to twist. The radio is fully integrated into the upper center stack and it's easy to operate. Cds sound good through the jbl speakers. Models with automatics come with a foot-operated parking brake.  the rear seats in the tacoma double cab are particularly comfortable for the class, offering good legroom and shoulder room and decent headroom. The seatback is angled back slightly, making it more comfortable than the overly upright rear seats in some other compact pickups. In a back-to-back comparison test, we found the back seats of the tacoma more comfortable than those in the frontier. The rear windows even go all the way down.  the rear-seat area in the double cab is also good for carrying cargo. The seat is split 60/40. Flip the seat bottoms forward and fold the two sections down to form a flat platform for gear. Power Seats✔ Power Windows✔ Tachometer✔ Bucket Seats✔ AM/FM✔ Air Conditioning✔ CD Changer✔ Sport Package

2012 toyota tacoma review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New styling for class-leading pickup. introductionthe 2012 toyota tacoma arrives with a new look inside and out, new and more sophisticated audio choices, and the same basic mechanical underpinnings that have made it a favorite in its class for almost a decade.  tacoma owns the compact pickup market. Toyota sold more than 106,000 tacomas in 2010, which is nearly twice as many trucks as the tacoma's nearest competitor.  the tacoma was named 'most dependable midsize pickup' in the j. But every 2012 tacoma will greet the world with a new grille, engine hood, front fenders, and front bumper. The new look is at once both fresh and familiar. Its on-road handing is responsive; its off-road capability is proven. The double cab delivers more rear-seat comfort than most of the competition, with enough room to rival a small sedan. The base model is among the few regular-cab pickups still available, as the market has moved to extended-cab and crew cab styles; it excels at durability and reliability. For one thing, they have not been compact for many years, they're midsize. Nor are they uncomfortable. They're more comfortable and more capable than ever before. lineupthe 2012 toyota tacoma is available in 20 different configurations, including regular cab, access cab (extended cab) and double cab (crew cab) body styles. Regular and access cabs come with six-foot beds; double cab comes with the choice of a shorter five-foot bed or a standard-size six-footer. Access cabs have power windows and locks; double cabs add power mirrors. Access and double cabs also get satellite-ready six-speaker audio systems. Double cab v6 models offer a premium jbl system (that's wrapped into other packages) with amplified subwoofer, bluetooth, xm, and toyota entune. Its name refers to the additional x-shaped brace added to stiffen its frame against high cornering loads. X-runner is offered only in the access cab style, and only with the v6 and 6-speed manual.  sr5 packages bundle styling and comfort features, including color-keyed overfenders and front bumper, chrome grille surround and chrome rear bumper, bucket seats with lumbar support, and a long list of car-like conveniences. These packages can be added to any access cab or double cab with automatic transmission.  the trd sport package starts with sr5 equipment and adds or substitutes p265/65r17 tires, sport-tuned suspension with bilstein shock absorbers, sport seats, overhead console and with compass and outside temperature, plus a hood scoop, lots of body-color trim, and its own graphics package. New for 2012 are turn signals integrated into the outside mirrors. Eighteen-inch chrome-clad alloy wheels are optional. The trd sport package is available on v6-powered access cabs and double cabs with either manual or automatic transmission.  the trd off-road package starts with the sr5 equipment and adds or substitutes bf goodrich p265/70r16 owl tires, locking rear differential, off-road suspension with bilstein shock absorbers, engine skidplate, sport seats, overhead console with compass and outside temperature, heavy-duty front tow hook, 115v/400w deck-mounted power point, and unique trd graphics. Trd off-road is also available only on v6 model access and double cabs, but not on double cab long beds.  an optional tow package 650) for v6 models comprises a 130-amp alternator, heavy-duty battery, transmission oil cooler, and a class iv hitch with seven-pin connector.  safety features that come on all models include anti-lock brakes (abs) with electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, vehicle stability control with traction control, and the automatic limited-slip differential. Models with automatic transmission also include hill-start assist control, and trd off-road models add downhill assist control. In addition, front airbags, front seat side-impact airbags, and side-curtain airbags are standard on all models. walkaroundthe 2012 tacoma is all-new from the a-pillar forward: new engine hood, new headlights, new fog light housings, new bumper fascias, and new front grilles on all grades. A slightly protruding inner grille of black plastic now echoes and emphasizes this toy-truck hallmark. The trapezoidal shape leaves a gap between grille and headlights, and where the previous tacoma filled this space with little side grilles, for 2102 reshaped headlight housings extend inward to cover the same area.  the lower air opening, previously just slit in body-colored fascia, is now more prominent as well; gripped between a body-color arch at the top (again, the arch theme) and a grey pseudo-skidplate below; it now suggests the menacing mouth of some bottom-feeding fish. Fog light nacelles, previous functional tunnels in the fascia, now wear their own elaborate, surrounding shape. In short, it's the familiar tacoma face, only more so. We think it looks tougher and more rugged without going over the top.  overall length of the tacoma varies by body style: regular cabs are the shortest and most maneuverable, measuring 190. 4 inches overall on a 109. 6-inch wheelbase. Access cab and double cab short-bed models have a 127. 4-inch wheelbase and 208. 1-inch overall length. Double cab long-bed models are quite long at 221. 3 inches overall on a 140. 6-inch wheelbase. All models have six-foot beds except the double cab short-bed, which has a five-foot bed.  how to choose? Regular cab models pack lots of cargo space in a relatively small package, good for maneuverability in the big city. Regular cab 4wd models also have the best break-over angle due to their short length, and therefore offer the best capability off road. Access cabs feature large dual rear auxiliary doors, not good for people but very good for gear. Double cabs have long, conventionally hinged rear doors that open 80 degrees for ease of entry or loading gear. Double cabs offer the people-carrying comfort of a sport-utility. Long-bed double cabs can carry more stuff but are unwieldy in tight places.  the tacoma comes with a composite inner bed, lighter than steel yet tougher and more durable. The bed features two-tier. 2012 toyota 4runner review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Using rugged body-on-frame construction, the 4runner is intended to be a tough and reliable sport utility for the more adventurous owner.  all 2012 toyota 4runners are powered by a 4. 0-liter v6 that generates 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy ratings are 17 mpg city and 22 mpg highway with 4wd. Maximum towing capacity is 5,000 pounds, enough for light boats, atvs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles.  two-row and three-row seating configurations are available, for five or seven passengers.  the 2012 toyota 4runner comes in three distinct models, each with specialized equipment packages, to suit a variety of luxury, recreational capability, and affordability priorities. All are sturdily built, with an extensive suite of safety features, flexible seating, and multiple cargo options.  the 4runner sr5 is the standard grade with cloth upholstery, automatic air conditioning, and 17-inch wheels, while the limited is loaded with leather, dual-zone climate control, and 20-inch wheels. The mid-range trail edition is designed to maximize off-road performance with superior approach and departure angles, high ground clearance, and an array of functional upgrades for the most demanding active outdoor enthusiast. It is distinguished by a unique hood scoop, unique 17-inch wheels, black side mirrors, front and rear bumper guards and dark smoke treatment on the head lamps and tail lamps.  all three models benefit from equipment upgrades for 2012. The 2012 toyota 4runner sr5 and trail edition come standard with siriusxm satellite radio, a usb port with ipod connectivity, and bluetooth phone capability and music streaming. Still available for limited only is a premium 15-speaker system from jbl. 2012 sr5 and limited now offer the option of automatic retractable running boards.  we found the 4runner has good on-road dynamics with rack-and-pinion steering and well-proportioned disc brakes. It may be as nimble as the lighter-duty highlander crossover. But the key point here is that the 4runner is far more capable and much more durable for use on rough terrain. That durability factor is crucial for owners who frequently drive on rough, unpaved roads or over rugged terrain. Compared to the fj cruiser, the 4runner is more versatile and more passenger-friendly, and nearly as capable off-road. lineupthe 2012 toyota 4runner is available in sr5, limited, and trail grade. Two-row or three-row seating configurations are available, for five or seven passengers. Third-row seats are optional 805). A convenience package 1580) includes power seats, a power moonroof, upgraded sport upholstery, and thee 120v power outlets.  4runner trail edition 4wd 36,755) includes special trim, unique 17-inch wheels, upgraded cloth upholstery, a power moonroof, rearview camera (small display inside rearview mirror), power front seats, and under-floor storage. Optional is the kinetic dynamic suspension system 1750), which automatically disconnects the stabilizer bars to allow for more axle travel and better suspension articulation in slow, difficult terrain.  4runner limited 38,595) upgrades to leather upholstery in the first and second rows, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, chrome exterior trim, push-button start, heated front seats, leather-trimmed steering wheel with audio and telephone controls, x-reas sport enhancement suspension, and 245/60r20 mud and snow tires on 20-inch alloy wheels. The new-for-2012 touch-screen navigation/audio system includes all the features of the standard sr5/trail audio setup, plus wma playback, hd radio with itunes tagging, auxiliary audio jack, toyota entune, a rear-view camera, and much, much more. Third-row seats, leather trimmed, are optional 1365), as is an even more sophisticated 15-speaker jbl stereo-with-navigation 1155).  the limited's navigation/audio package is optional on sr5 1520) and trail edition 995). A premium package 4775) for sr5 combines the navigation/audio system with leather seats, power moonroof, and other limited-style luxuries. Power-retractable running boards 1500) are available on sr5 and limited only.  safety features on all 4runner models include active front head restraints, abs, electronic brake-force distribution, quick brake assist, vehicle stability control, traction control, hill-start assist control, latch child-seat anchors, seat belts with alr/elr, force limiters, pretensioners, tire-pressure monitor, downhill assist control (dac) is included on 4wd models. walkaroundthe toyota 4runner has a boxy form with a wide stance, with wide fenders to suggest muscularity. The wheelwells are squared off and generously sized for larger tires, like the fj cruiser. The bumpers add a sense of heft. Roof rails are standard on all models, emphasizing the 4runner's potential as a recreational gear transporter.  projection-beam headlights lend a technical appearance, with high-tech taillights distinguished by unusually conspicuous lens bulges. The effect is contemporary, advanced, and yet in keeping with 4runner's five-generation tradition of body-on-frame construction.  the trail edition is styled to project rugged good looks, a sense of mystery, and a sporting nature. It has a sporty hood scoop, blacked-out mirrors and bumpers, and a dark smoke treatment on the headlights and tail lights.  trail edition and sr5 have similarly styled overfenders and mud guards, and both have 17-inch alloy wheels as standard equipment, although each grade has its own distinctive wheel. On the sr5, there is greater use of chrome accents, and the roof rack is silver with black end caps. Heated exterior mirrors have turn signal indicators and puddle lamps.  the limited comes on lower-profile p245/60r20 tires mounted on 20-inch alloy wheels. All models come with a full-size spare, and the limited has a matching alloy spare. Like the sr5 and trail grade, the limited has a rear spoiler that houses the rear wiper, keeping it tucked away when not in use. interiorthe toyota 4runner interior was designed with an eye toward practicality, comfort, and utility. All rows are relatively roomy. The instrument cluster is bright with large dials. The standard three-gauge cluster combines orange-numeral speedometer and tachometer with temperature and fuel meters; on trail and limited, white-numeral optitron gauges are used. All grades share an accessory meter that displays time, average fuel consumption, range, compass direction, and outside temperature.  an automatic dual-zone climate controlled air conditioning system is standard on the limited; sr5 and trail edition have manual climate control.  three 12-volt outlets are located in the glove box, the center console sack, and the cargo area. Optional 120-volt ac outlets, useful for charging batteries or running appliances at the campsite, are located in the center console box and cargo area.  on the trail edition, there is an overhead panel with two dials that house the crawl control and multi-terrain select system. The trail edition gets water-resistant seat fabric in a charcoal gray color.  the front seats in the 4runner are comfortable and supportive, with a lot of adjustability. The standard sr5 cloth seat adjusts six ways manually; trail and limited models get eight-way power adjustments. Limited features flawless leather, heated seats. Active headrests are standard for all front seats. The seats are easily wide enough for an average-size body, with low bolsters on the seat cushion and taller side bolstering on the seat back. We found they provide cornering support on winding roads, without making the driver's seat hard to get into. With everything folded flat, cargo volume is just short of 90 cubic feet, or 88. 8 cubic feet on models with third-row seating.  the third-row seating is functional for everyday use. The seats are realistically sized and there's a livable amount of space. Access to the third row is made easier with second-row seats split into a 40/20/40 configuration, so it.

2014 toyota tundra review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New looks inside and out, proven mechanicals underneath. introductionthe toyota tundra is a full-size pickup offering realistic work capability and durability. We've found the tundra to be a stable, comfortable truck for towing a 20-foot enclosed car trailer over long distances. Towing capacities top 10,000 pounds on some models, and maximum payload ratings exceed 2,000 pounds.  for 2014, there is a new tundra in terms of appearance. The dashboard, electronics and cabin trimming are new and also look better than before. A rearview camera is standard on every 2014 tundra. The engine, suspension and everything underneath are essentially the same with only small calibration changes most owners won't notice.  the 2014 toyota tundra lineup is simpler than before. The two-door regular cab only comes in entry-level trim levels and only with a long bed. The double cab with conventional front-hinged, secondary rear side doors seats five or six and comes with 6. 5- or 8-foot beds. Named for the ranch on which the tundra factory sits, the 1794 has requisite big badges, cowboy-color leather and ultrasuede interior, woodgrain trim, and things like ventilated power seats and big jbl sound system to improve the ride after a long day's work. It's a good truck engine with epa fuel-economy ratings of 14/18 mpg city/highway, or 13/17 mpg with 4wd, and standard on most tundra permutations. Most newer competitors offer more power, more mileage or both, but the real world difference tends to be 1-2 mpg. Tundra remains the only full-size pickup to publish tow ratings that meet a standard all full-size manufacturers agreed to for 2013, and those standards tend to lower existing ratings; the other manufacturers are continuing to use their own in-house ratings.  the smaller 4. 6-liter dohc v8 engine is rated at 310 horsepower and 327 pound-feet of torque, with slightly better epa fuel-economy ratings of 15/20 mpg city/highway, 14/19 mpg with 4wd. Both v8 engines come with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 4. 6-liter v8 is a good choice for drivers who do not plan to do a lot of towing.  the 4. 0-liter v6, available only on some 2wd tundras, nets 270 horsepower, 278 pound-feet of torque and epa ratings of 16/20 mpg city/highway. V6 models can't tow as much as the v8s but easily better the v8s for payload due to the lighter weight of the engine. The v6 comes with a 5-speed automatic. It's the best choice for a budget or intercity work truck, but the 4. 6-liter v8's added refinement could easily be worth the nominal fuel economy penalty. lineupthe 2014 toyota tundra comes in three body styles: regular cab with 8-foot long bed, 4-door double cab with 6 1/2-foot standard bed or 8-foot long bed, and 4-door crew max with a 5 1/2-foot short bed. All ride on a 146-inch wheelbase except the double cab long bed at 165 inches. Double cab is available is sr, sr5 and limited trim levels. Crewmax cabs are offered in sr5, limited, platinum and 1794 edition models all with 5. 5-foot beds.  tundra sr comes in regular cab 25,920) with an 8-foot bed and double cab 26,810) body styles and a choice of 4. 0-liter v6 with 5-speed automatic transmission, 4. 6-liter v8, or 5. 7-liter v8 28,465). Options on sr trim include cargo rail retention system, tow hitch on 4. 6 double cab, and a work truck package with vinyl seat and floor that removes cruise control, power accessories and map lights.  tundra sr5 trim adds to sr with fog lamps, more chrome outside, entune audio plus (7-inch hi-resolution touchscreen, siriusxm radio with 90-day trial, hd radio with itunes tagging and weather/traffic in metro areas, elsewhere with a smartphone), dark-tint manual sliding rear window, and additional instruments with 3. 5-inch display. Tundra sr5 is available in double cab 29,465) or crewmax 31,825) versions with 4x2 or 4x4 drivelines and a choice of 4. 6-liter v8 or 5. 7-liter v8. Optional equipment includes alloy wheels. Sr5 upgrade package includes bucket front seats, power driver seat, console and shift, tilt and telescope steering wheel, rear underseat storage tray. The trd off-road package features bilstein shocks, unique alloy wheels and michelin tires, skid plates, rear side window privacy glass; and tow hooks on 2wd.  tundra limited upgrades to dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, heated 10/4-way power front seats, 20-inch alloy wheels, leather tilt/telescope steering wheel with audio and bluetooth controls, power sliding rear window (horizontal on double cab, vertical on crewmax), auto-dimming mirror, deck rail tie-down cleat system, entune app suite, navigation, upgraded audio system and alarm system. Optional are trd package, moonroof and blind-spot monitor/rear cross traffic alert on crewmax. A limited premium package adds auto up/down power windows, park sensors front and rear, remote keyless entry. All tundra limited models come with 5. 7-liter v8 in double cab 36,94) and crewmax 38,845), with 4x2 or 4x4.  tundra platinum 44,270) models get perforated leather diamond-quilt pattern upholstery, heated/cooled front seats, driver memory system, jbl audio system, color-matched bumpers and grille trim, auto-dimming power-folding outside mirrors, moonroof, park sensors and glass breakage sensor. All tundra platinum models come with 5. 7-liter v8 and crewmax but offer a choice of 4x2 or 4x4 47,320). The standard rearview camera can enhance safety by helping the driver spot children behind the truck when backing up. By wheelbase, width, track and height it is among the largest of half-ton pickups. Now squared off and angularized like a body-builder's jaw, it's the most visually imposing tundra yet.  for 2014 the rounded lines that led to an inflated look are gone. And the bumper top is lower, so while sr/sr5, limited, platinum and 1794 all get different grille arrangements, those grilles are considerably larger than before. Fog lights are recessed for protection and headlights are single-bulb units; we couldn't verify performance given lightning activity, but every example we drove from sr5 to 1794 had a manual in-cab adjustment for vertical aim, handy for keeping light on the road with a load or trailer on.  we find the rear view more improved than the front.
