2007 honda ridgeline review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Second year for honda's one-of-a-kind pickup. introductionthe honda ridgeline is more closely a mid-size pickup than a full-size, but really it's like no other truck available. It vies for the title of most innovative pickup.  think of honda's best attributes, then apply them to a pickup truck. We mean qualities like refinement, fit-and-finish and innovation the honda way. The ridgeline features an easy-to-reach, locking storage box under its bed that no other pickup can match. Other companies have been building pickups for 100 years, and none of them had thought to try this storage system.  yet the differences between ridgeline and more conventional pickups go all the way to the core. Ridgeline is the first mainstream pickup with fully independent rear suspension, which improves ride quality considerably. Other pickup trucks have traditionally been built with a separate nose section, cab section, and cargo bed, bolted to a separate ladder frame. Honda's pickup uses both a one-piece unibody and a steel ladder frame, welded together. Its cab and bed are built as one piece, with separate subframes for the engine, front suspension and rear suspension. It's smooth, quiet and very maneuverable, with a load of useful features. At the high end of the line, the 2007 ridgeline rtl adds a power moonroof and xm satellite radio as standard equipment.  the honda ridgeline doesn't look or act like any other pickup truck we've driven, and it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg to own or operate. It makes pleasant, comfortable daily transportation, and it's as much pickup as many drivers will ever need. lineupwhat's new for 2007: in its second year of production, the honda ridgeline gets a number of changes to its trim packages, including introduction of a new rtx model 28,300). Beyond equipment included with the base rt model, the ridgeline rtx adds a standard trailer hitch, gray-painted alloy wheels, an accessory grille and body colored door handles. Following honda's new practice, there are no exterior badges to distinguish models.  all ridgelines are powered by a 3. 5-liter v6 engine, generating 247 horsepower, with a five-speed automatic transmission and honda's vtm-4 all-wheel-drive system. This full-time all-wheel-drive normally proportions 60 percent of the power to the front wheels, but if conditions indicate it will automatically send as much as 70 percent of the engine torque to the rear wheels. Ridgeline also incorporates a limited-slip differential with lock feature.  the ridgeline rt 27,800) is the base model. It comes standard with black bumpers, black door handles and steel wheels, manually operated front seats, air conditioning, power windows and locks, cruise control and a 100-watt, six-speaker stereo with cd.  the rtx 28,300) is new for 2007.  the ridgeline rts 30,275) adds painted bumpers, power front seats with manual lumbar support, a160-watt, seven-speaker stereo with six-cd changer and dual-zone automatic climate control.  the rtl 32,940) adds still more standard features, including leather upholstery, a power moonroof and xm satellite radio hardware. The rtl can be equipped with ridgeline's only factory installed option: honda's dvd-based navigation system with voice recognition 1,550). There are also dozens of dealer-installed accessories available for all ridgeline models.  safety equipment is comprehensive. It includes multi-stage front airbags and side-impact airbags for front passengers, front and rear side curtain airbags for head protection and latch child-seat anchors for the three rear seats. These are aberdeen green metallic, nimbus gray metallic, dark cherry pearl and formal black.  the honda ridgeline's uniqueness starts with its appearance. Yet ridgeline doesn't look quite like any pickup before it, whether it's from america or japan. The grille, the front end, the cab shape, the buttresses coming down off the rear of the roof to join the integrated pickup bed, all seem to have been deliberately designed to be different, and different can be good or bad. The standard grille looks like an old television antenna, but a cleaner-looking antenna comes on the rtx model and is available as an accessory from honda dealers.  ridgeline's profile shows a lot of metal sculpting from end to end that conventional pickup trucks with separate beds don't have.  ridgeline's cargo bed is made of steel-reinforced smc plastic, not steel with a sprayed-on or slipped-in liner. The bed is five feet long with the tailgate up, and six and a half feet long with the tailgate down, enabling it to carry two dirt bikes or a large atv. A tubular aluminum cargo bed extender is available for longer loads. It will drop down in familiar fashion, top to bottom, and it also opens like a door, from right to left. There's a hidden latch on the lower right side and hinges on the left, so users don't have to lean across the tailgate to store or retrieve items in the bed or the storage trunk. The tailgate is retained by a conventional cable on the left and a patented, hidden retainer on the right.  the storage trunk, even more than the tailgate, distinguishes ridgeline for other pickups. This covered, sealed and lockable storage bin beneath the bed works the like the trunk in a sedan. The compact spare tire mounts forward of the storage trunk a sliding, locking tray. The trunk is even fitted with a drain plug for those times when ice turns to water, or when accumulated crud needs to be hosed out. interiorwhat's new for 2007: all ridgelines now feature an illuminated vanity mirror for the driver. The upgrade leather interior is a single color, rather than contrasting two-tone. Bucket seats come standard in front with a center console. We mean things such as nice, even seams throughout, good quality soft plastics, convenient switch placement and large, easily readable instrument graphics. The big, raised pull rings around ridgeline's door-release levers are one of a kind and kind of cool. They're certainly effective for hefting the doors shut.  honda's optional navigation system, with its dvd data base and eight-inch screen, is a paradigm for size, brightness, contrast and overall ease of use. The voice commands work well; alternately, the menus are simple, effective and easy to master. It's off center a bit toward the front passenger, and flat, so in certain light in can be difficult for the driver to read. He or she has to almost lean sideways toward the center of the vehicle for a better look.  although the ridgeline's rear doors are shorter than the fronts, standard practice in this segment, there's no problem getting in or out, and the rear seat is nearly as roomy and versatile as those in front. It's actually comfortable for two adults, with a 24-degree backrest angle, more like a front seat. A six-foot male driver would be able to fit behind himself in the back seat with reasonable leg room and knee room.  the rear seat splits and folds, 60/40, to stash fairly large pieces of cargo in the cab. The under-seat storage space, something like an airliner's, is great for backpacks or briefcases.  the ridgeline's unusual exterior design reduces outward visibility. The buttresses where the cargo box create a blind spot for glancing over the shoulder. driving impressionfor a hefty truck, the honda ridgeline delivers a truly pleasant driving experience. The goodness flows from the stiffness of its unibody-on-ladder-frame construction. Factor in subframes that cradle the engine and suspension, helping isolate the cab from harsh road shocks, and ridgeline can be a joy to operate when compared to some other trucks.  the stiffness of the body and chassis also contribute to crisp, sure handling over twisty two-lane roads. The combination of all-wheel-drive and vehicle. 2008 honda accord review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. All-new sedan and coupe are bigger and better. introductioneight generations ago the accord was honda's biggest car but no one foresaw it as a large car. Enter the all-new 2008 honda accord, a mid-size sedan that's grown enough to move into the epa's large car segment. Introduced at the same time, is an all-new, two-door honda accord coupe.  the all-new, 2008 honda accord continues refinement and adds more power, room, safety, and features-to-cost value. And if the past is any indicator, there's implicit reliability here.  the 2008 honda accord competes with the toyota camry, nissan altima, ford fusion, hyundai sonata, mazda 6, saturn aura, and the 2008 chevrolet malibu. The extra space offered by the 2008 accord means that shopping list might also now include the nissan maxima, toyota avalon and vw passat.  the stylish, two-door 2008 honda accord coupe competes directly with the nissan altima coupe. The lx sedan 20,360) comes standard with cloth upholstery, air conditioning, power mirrors and door locks, variable intermittent wipers, tilt-and-telescoping steering column and illuminated wheel-mounted controls, folding rear seats, and an mp3/wma/auxiliary input 160-watt sound system. The lx-p sedan 21,360) is an lx with a premium package that adds alloy wheels, a power driver's seat, power windows, security system, and chrome tailpipe. They come with five-speed manual or automatic transmission 800). The ex sedan is also available with the v6 and automatic 25,960). Honda's navigation system is packaged with voice-activation and steering wheel controls, bluetooth, and xm satellite radio on the ex-l sedan 27,260), ex-l v6 sedan 30,260), and ex-l v6 coupe 30,510).  safety equipment is standard, with six airbags, including two-stage front airbags, dual-chamber front side airbags, side curtain airbags; active front head restraints, electronic stability control, antilock brakes, and tire pressure monitors. walkaroundthis latest-generation honda accord stays true to its roots with contemporary yet conservative design highlighted by a strong character line that slopes down and forward like that of the acura tl. Many modern design elements are the result of auto/pedestrian collision standards and the accord is not immune, even the wiper arm mounts are designed to break away when hit.  forward lights are aptly described as hawk-like and look fiercer on coupes because they use projector headlamps as opposed to the conventional reflector design on the sedans; v6 models include fog lamps. At the rear the lamp elements appear cut off at the style line rather than extending up to the top trunk seam. This contributes a sense of heaviness and more closely mirrors the princess rear end styling of the acura rl rather than the taut crispness of the tl.  following trends, the 2008 accord is larger than any before, and although it competes in the mid-size market segment it is by epa interpretation a large car. Virtually every dimension save width is 2-4 inches smaller outside than that of the sedan. The coupe is sleeker yet still fits the accord mold. Stepping up to an ex with leather adds features, but the basics like seat design and driver ergonomics are shared by all accords.  the tilt-and-telescoping steering column provides a good range of adjustment to complement those available on the seat so all the masses can find a good driving position. There's a clear view all around outside, to the instrument panel with proven dial-and-needle gauges, and the information display or navigation screen is inset under a shade at the same height as the gauges; glare is controlled and it can be viewed with polarized glasses.  ex-l models come with leather on the seats, steering wheel, shifter and door panels. The ex-l leather appears of high quality and assembly as does the rest of the car. The center armrest was designed to be big enough for two adults to share without awkward glances.  rear-seat passengers will have few complaints as few do in large cars. Seat cushions and backrest carry right out to the door without wheelwell intrusion, offer space for a six-footer to sit comfortably behind another one, and easy entry and egress. The center seat is better padded than many, and as such it loses a bit of headroom to the outer seats. There are no rear reading lamps.  three interior colors are offered on the sedans, black, gray, and ivory, while the coupe goes black or ivory only. Honda's graphics for the variable intermittent wipers are among the simplest: rather than bars, lines or dots of differing size, the accord uses one raindrop for long interval and three raindrops for more frequent wiping. The shifter is right at hand, and the proper handbrake has short travel.  controls for sound, climate, and navigation are central below the navigation screen and vents. One row of switches controls audio input (am, xm, cd, etc.) and another row has six audio. 2014 honda cr-v review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Compact crossover is a family favorite. introductionthe honda cr-v is indeed a comfortable runabout vehicle, as some say its acronym suggests. Cr-v first appeared as a 1997 model.  the honda cr-v comes loaded with technology, including bluetooth-enabled hands-free phone capability and streaming audio. The rearview camera is a multi-angle system that lets the driver choose between a top view and either a 130-degree or a 180-degree view. Automatic climate control, leather upholstery, heated front seats and a premium, 328-watt audio system with subwoofer and xm satellite radio are available. Optional on the top-of-the-line model is a gps-based navigation system with turn-by-turn directions.  cr-v's 2. 4-liter engine delivers 185 horsepower and 163 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy is mid-pack for the class, with an epa-estimated 23/31 mpg city/highway on front-wheel drive models, and 22/30 mpg with all-wheel drive (which honda calls real time awd). An eco-assist feature intended to save fuel adjusts transmission shift points and manages acceleration. When a little more oomph is desired, eco-assist can be switched off.  convenience features include hill-start assist, which applies the brakes when the car is stopped on an incline and releases them when the driver touches the accelerator. The clutch that sends power to the rear wheels on the awd models has a pre-load function that prevents any initial slippage when moving off from a stop.  we found handling responsive and a ride that's solid without being overly firm. The honda cr-v is stable, with little body lean in corners, even at elevated speeds.  inside, pleasantly styled panels and trim pieces complement each other and show a consistent theme. Hard plastic surfaces are everywhere, however. Controls are functional and for the most part intuitive. The screen on the optional navigation system is large and easy to read, though the system takes a long time to start up. The honda cr-v's low roofline reduces headroom. The rear cargo compartment is not perfectly flat with the rear seats folded.  safety features include electronic stability control, brake assist, side-curtain airbags with rollover sensing, and front-side airbags. The multi-angle rearview camera displays its image on the intelligent multi-information display, or on the navigation system's screen (if so equipped). The 2013 honda cr-v earned a 5-star overall crash-test score from the national highway traffic safety administration, as well as a top safety pick designation from the insurance institute for highway safety.  alternatives to the 2014 honda cr-v include other small crossovers such as the chevrolet equinox, the recently redesigned ford escape, the hyundai santa fe sport or tucson, the sporty mazda cx-5, and the toyota rav4. Toyota entered the compact crossover suv segment even earlier than honda, with the 1996 rav4. Cr-v ex-l is the only trim level available with a factory-installed voice-recognition navigation system with turn-by-turn directions in 2wd 29,195) and awd 30,445) variants. Alternatively, a rear-seat dvd entertainment system can be installed in both front-drive 28,395) and all-wheel drive 29,645) ex-l models.  safety equipment includes frontal airbags, front seat side-impact airbags, full coverage side curtain airbags, electronic stability control, abs, brake assist, electronic brake-force distribution, and multi-angle rearview camera. Optional all-wheel drive can improve handling stability in slippery conditions. walkaroundhonda cr-v retains styling cues from older generations, after an evolutionary redesign for 2012 that brought marginal adjustments to dimensions.  the front view is sleek and round, with a rakish shape to the headlights and a grille with three horizontal bars. The lower valance is pronounced, and includes fog lights. Hood sculpting is convex, and the fender blisters are bold, giving the cr-v a strong stance.  from the side, the sculpting across door lowers is recessed, with a slight coke bottle-ness. Wheel arches are full and sharply defined. The rearmost side window pinches down to a tapered trailing edge, accenting the rear taillight and backup cluster that wraps around into the rear quarter, somewhat breaking up the sheet metal in the c-pillar (the post between the roof and lower body behind the rearmost side window). Oval recesses behind the door handles easily accommodate large or gloved hands.  in the rear, proportions are right, with the rear window fully integrated into the liftgate's lower half. A thin strip of brightwork tops the license plate recess, which itself snugs into the upper half of a scalloped recess spanning the liftgate from one fender to the other. The vertical taillights each look to be a single piece, and include the backup and running lights. Tires properly positioned relative to the rear fenders match the front end's solid stance. The matte-finished lower valance masks all but the beefiest of the rear suspension underpinnings. interiorat first blush, the honda cr-v interior comes across as elegant. Nearly all surfaces are hard plastic. They are visually pleasing, with upscale-looking graining and metallic-like finishes, but the feel is clearly low-budget.  seats are comfortable, with adequate, if not remarkable, thigh support. The leather is a little short of luxurious, but comparable to that of other vehicles in this class and price range. Door armrests are padded. Door-mounted map pockets are molded to hold a beverage can or water bottle, but aren't especially deep, so cups must be fitted with sipper caps.  the lower roofline of the cr-v means less headroom than the toyota rav4, hyundai tucson, ford escape or chevrolet equinox. Legroom is more plentiful in the honda than these others, however, except for the equinox, which bests the cr-v by about an inch.  the center console extends forward all the way under the pod holding the shift lever, creating usable storage space in the form of a long, deep covered storage bin, which can conceal a medium-sized handbag or other valuables. Small trays are tucked into each side of the lower part of that extended console. The lower portion of the dashboard curves outward from the shift lever pod in graceful arcs toward the doors, which themselves repeat the arc cues.  the screen that serves either as the control panel for the audio or the nav display parks front and center in the upper dash, directly below a deeply recessed, smaller screen that handles the duties of the onboard computer and the rearview camera on the ex-l with the nav system. The rearview camera is a multi-angle unit that lets users choose between a top view, a 130-degree, or a 180-degree view. All have superimposed guidelines to aid the driver when backing up, although they are fixed and don't bend to indicate track at the current steering wheel angle as they do on some systems.  on each side of the large circular speedometer that dominates the instrument cluster is a thin light strip that glows green to signal when the engine is optimizing fuel economy. It's attractive, and looks like a giant parentheses around the speedometer. Mostly intuitive knobs, buttons and rocker switches on the dash and steering wheel manage audio and climate control functions. The backs of the rear seats are also beveled on the outboard edges, so the shoulder straps on the seatbelts naturally slip around the seatbacks when they're raised from their folded positions. Honda also managed to give the rear seats true, one-step fold-down systems, activated by pulling either a lever on the s.

2013 honda civic review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Restyled, refined, retuned suspension, back on track. introductionthe honda civic began its ninth generation with the 2012 model, which was disappointing on account of cost-cutting. The 2013 civic sedan is changed a bit, becoming what the 2012 should have been, with a pretty exterior, snazzy interior, satisfying suspension, and a cabin full of tricks from bluetooth to pandora.  the nose, hood, black honeycomb grille and angled headlamps are pleasing to the eye, with a humped hood and raked windshield that draw attention. The side sills are sculpted smartly, and with body-colored mirrors and door handles, the civic looks classy, especially with the optional alloy wheels. The rear fenders flow nicely into a horizontal v over each side of the rear bumper.  in the cabin there's a ton of standard content, such as bluetooth phone and bluetooth audio, pandora internet radio interface and mp3, usb, ipod and sms text message capability. There's a nice color multi-information display (i-mid) with rearview camera.  the fabric upholstery is excellent, with seats that are well shaped, nicely bolstered and widely adjustable. The standard 60/40 split-folding rear seatback expands cargo capacity. We put a six-footer in the rear seat, and he didn't complain about legroom or headroom.  interior refinements include a new headliner and soft-touch materials on the instrument panel, center console, and door panels. Silver accents here and there, along with faux stitching on the dashboard and door panels, add a touch of upscale. Black carpeting is standard. The colorful instrument backlighting is soothing.  significantly, nvh (noise, vibration and harshness) has been improved over the 2012. More sound deadening material has been added to the firewall, wheel wells, flooring and trunk, while the windshield and front windows are thicker, all in the successful pursuit of silence. On the inside, the civic neither feels nor sounds like a mere $20,000 car.  we found the i-vtec 140-horsepower engine with its 128 foot-pounds of torque to be adequate. Acceleration performance is average but feels stronger because the engine is smooth and cabin quiet. The 5-speed automatic transmission is programmed to be invisible, while the ride is solid and comfortable. There's an econ mode that remaps the engine and transmission for fuel mileage over power. We easily ran 75 mph in econ and impressively got 32. 1 miles per gallon.  the suspension has been reworked for 2013 with thicker anti-roll bars front and rear, quicker steering, and firmer bushings. The front subframe body structure is stiffer. We've had it on the track and its performance is marvelous.  there are also three high-mileage versions of the civic. The civic hf uses a specially tuned version of the same 1. 8-liter engine to achieve an epa-rated 29/41 mpg city/highway, compared to 28/39 mpg for the civic lx and ex. It gets 27/38 mpg on the cheaper fuel. Fuel economy is rated at 44/44 mpg. The bare bones and most affordable model, dx, has been discontinued: dee-xed.  new safety technologies built into the 2013 civic include the application of the next-gen advanced compatibility engineering ii (ace ii) body structure, which includes additional front end structures designed to help increase occupant protection by dispersing crash energy in narrow overlap frontal crashes. Also new are smartvent side airbags, side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor and the availability of forward collision warning (fcw) and lane departure warning (ldw) systems, which make their compact-class debut in the 2013 civic hybrid. lineupthe 2013 honda civic comes in six models. The sporty civic si uses a high-revving 2. 4-liter and 6-speed gearbox, coupe or sedan. Civic hf features a hybrid gas-electric powertrain tuned for high gas mileage. Civic gx runs on natural gas.  civic lx sedan 18,165) and lx coupe 17,965) come standard with 5-speed manual transmission, fabric upholstery, air conditioning with air-filtration system, leather-wrapped steering wheel, power everything, bluetooth, color multi-information display with rearview camera, usb/ipod connection, pandora interface, sms text feature, and steering wheel audio controls. The 5-speed automatic is available for the civic lx sedan 18,965) and lx coupe 18,765).  civic ex sedan 20,815) comes standard with the 5-speed automatic. All civic ex models include a six-speaker audio system, 60/40 split rear seat, and power moonroof. Opting for the civic ex sedan navi 23,765) adds navigation and xm radio.  civic ex-l 22,265) coupe or sedan upgrades with leather upholstery and heated front seats. Civic ex-l navi 23,765) include navigation and xm.  civic hf sedan 19,765) is designed for maximum fuel efficiency with an economy tuned engine and 5-speed automatic.  civic gx sedan 24,465) burns natural gas.  civic hybrid 24,360) uses a gas-electric powertrain with cvt and is available with leather 25,560), navi 25,860), or both 27,060).  civic si sedan 22,715) and coupe 22,515) feature a high-performance 2. 4-liter engine and 6-speed manual. The 2013 civic actually catches some eyes with its changes. We got comments about the car's good looks, driving an ex for one week.  honda had made a decision to go with the austerity times on the redesigned 2012 sedan, which sported new fascias and character lines, but nothing bold. (the previous-generation civic was the bold one, and its then-radical aerodynamics flow through to the 2013 model.) by playing it close to the vest, the class-leading civic sedan was upstaged in all directions; witness the skyactiv mazda3, stylish ford focus, and the hyundai elantra, a swoopy good deal. So for 2013 honda responds with a rapid comeback, starting with the body makeover of the sedan. (meanwhile, the coupe, with its own identity, doesn't get changed because there was no demand to change it.)  the nose and tail are new, up to the hood and trunk lid. The black honeycomb mesh grill looks serious, if disguised, undermined by a thin chrome smile and half-hidden behind the mundane (but universally recognizable) honda emblem. We could do without the gratuitous horizontal chrome strip within the fascia.  the a-pillars have been thinned, but the steep rake of the windshield is untouched. The side sills are sculpted smartly; with body-colored mirrors and door handles, the civic looks classy. But not the lx with its awful plastic wheelcovers. Honda designers did good on bumpers. At the tail above the bumper, it's restyled but still ordinary, even with big new two-piece taillamps. We could do without the gratuitous horizontal chrome strip across the trunk. But that's a generic statement; we could say that about every car.  some less noticeable parts of the body have also been changed, especially the front floor and upper wheel housing. Fifty-percent of the body is high-strength steel, providing a rigid structure and light weight. interiorin the cabin there's much new content to bring the 2013 civic upscale to match its competitors. However, there's some sleight of hand, because much of what's now standard in all models got there by discontinuing the low-cost bare-bones dx. There's a new and classy all-black interior color. The seats are well shaped, nicely bolstered and widely adjustable. The most useful information is repeated at the top of the dash, allowing the driver to scan without taking his or her eyes much off the road. Forward sightlines, even over that cool humped hood, are excellent. We appreciated the thinner windshield pillars, and small window set in the angle where the pillar intersects the car's hood. A lot of new cars have thick a-pillars that can obstruct the driver's view of pedestrians and other vehicles, but not here.  the i-mid, or intelligent multi-information display, uses a toggle on the leather-wrapped steering wheel that enables the driver to scroll through a variety of vehicle info.
